Over the footbridge to the church

Read it from front to back

A wooden footbridge crosses a stream in the foreground, and a path leads uphill to a church half hidden among tall trees. A few small figures are making their way across.

This is a landscape you read from front to back. Water and rough bridge supports fill the bottom edge, the walkers occupy the middle, and the church, with its red roofs and pale walls, stands further back, its slender spire rising over the trees. Open sky on the left balances the heavier foliage on the right.

Where the colours meet

Up close, the small things come out: the narrow church windows, the broken reflections under the bridge, and touches of red in the walkers' clothes that echo the roof tiles. The close-up of the back shows how the colours meet behind the church wall.

A gentle picture for a hallway

Rosi sewed the scene with 100% DMC threads. It has a gentle, Sunday-morning feel and would suit a hallway, a living room or a quiet bedroom.

The walkers, the bridge and the spire were all stitched by hand, on this cloth and no other.
