A calm, hopeful scene in warm ochre and blue.
Jesus stands at a wooden door with one hand raised to knock and a staff in the other. He wears a blue robe under a red cloak, a halo shines above his head, and a bright landscape opens out behind him.
The tall, narrow format follows the upright figure and the door. Warm ochres around the house contrast with the blue of the sky and robe, and dark green trees mark the distance. Flowers climb beside the doorway, and a jug stands in the shade by the entrance.
The photograph of the hand-stitched cloth shows all this without a frame: the curve of the staff, the climbing flowers, the light falling across the step. The red cloak is the strongest colour in the picture and draws the eye straight to the figure.
A quiet, hopeful subject, it is well suited to a hallway near the front door, a bedroom or a family room.
