A country scene with plenty to find

An old watermill stands beside a stream, its sloping roof and chimney half hidden by trees. Further back, a stone bridge crosses the water under a wide sky of pink and blue cloud. The tapestry is inspired by François Boucher's painting The Mill.

It is a peaceful country scene with plenty going on. Small figures appear near the water, a smaller wooden building stands beside the mill, and the stream carries your eye from the left of the picture towards the bridge on the right. Touches of red in the figures' clothing stand out among the browns, greys and greens.

A large piece, seen from both sides

This is one of the larger pieces in the collection, 72 cm wide by 55 cm high, made entirely by hand with 100% DMC threads in 35 colours. Before framing, the front shows the cloth margin around the scene, and the back records every colour change in that busy landscape.

Where the watermill could hang

With its pastel sky and old-fashioned calm, it would suit a living room, a dining room or a room with classic furniture. Each time you look, there is another figure, tree or building to find.
