Religious scene
A devotional scene in gold, red and deep blue.
Jesus stands in golden robes beside a rock face as a woman kneels before him, reaching up. A bright halo circles his head, and his raised hand points towards the sky.
The woman's red dress and wide blue cloak spread across the lower left of the picture, and her long red-gold hair falls down her back. Smaller details fill the space around them: green plants climbing the rock, dark crosses in the distance and a small open book lying near her feet.
Everything in the composition pulls upwards, through her reaching arms to his raised hand. The pale sky gives that hand a clear background, while the deep folds of her blue cloak anchor the bottom of the picture where they meet the green ground. The unframed photograph shows these colours up close.
This hand-stitched scene belongs in a bedroom, a family room or a place set aside for prayer.
